Rainie Branning in EastEnders

Last we saw Rainie Branning (Tanya Franks) in EastEnders she was sentenced to three months in prison for assaulting Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth), but she makes her long-awaited return to Albert Square this evening — and she’s got a pretty big surprise in store for Stuart Highway (Ricky Champ).

After fighting with Max (Jake Wood) over baby Abi, Rainie went through a difficult period earlier this year, and she ended up addicted to drugs once more. However, Stuart resolved to stick by her no matter what, and he did his best to help her through her tough time.

With Rainie having realised that she needed some time away from Walford, she punched Kathy in the face and called the police so that she could be sent to prison.

Having been given a three-month sentence, Rainie’s been off our screens for quite some time — and Stuart has done everything he can to prove himself in her absence.

The day of Rainie’s release arrives in tonight’s episode, and Stuart couldn’t be more excited, as he plans a party. However, when he mentions to Callum (Tony Clay) that he’s got a trial shift at Coker’s, Callum isn’t too fussed on the idea.

What’s more, Jay (Jamie Borthwick) seemingly regrets giving Stuart a trial when he begins to suggest odd Christmas promotions.

Nonetheless, Rainie is all that Stuart can think about, and she soon arrives back in Walford. However, before meeting up with her man, she heads to speak to Kathy — and proceeds to apologise for everything.

Later, she comes face-to-face with Stuart, and she wastes little time in proudly showing off the present she has for her beau.

The question is: what is it?
